So, I had a pretty fun day today, figured I’d share. some of it probably seems like me getting excited over the simplest or smallest of things, but then again, that’s just how I am.
First, for those that havent heard, right now there’s a promotion going on with 7-11 and the upcoming simpsons movie. 7-11 is selling various simpsons brand products that before you could only see in the series on tv.In addition, they converted 11 7-eleven stores around the U.S. into full blown qwik-e-marts.One of them happened to be just down the street from work, so of course, I had to go check it out. at the bottom of this post are pics I took while there. enjoy.
moving on, after work I went home, and then decided I was going to go see transformers since it was coming out tonight. I was trying to decide where to see it at, and decided to see it at the theatre at universal studios. I had a couple reasons for this, one being that I figured the crowds there for it would be smaller than the arclight, the other close by theatre. (I later found out I was correct in this assumption, as the arclight was jam packed, and various news crews were there doing coverage and such as well.) the main reason though, being that if I went there it’d mean I didnt have to take my car and more importantly, would have to take the subway…
The thought of this excited me to no end. You see, since ive been back in l.a. Ive been wanting to ride the subway really bad, because as far as I know, before tonight, id never ridden it before. Ive been wanting to ride it for a long time, I cant really explain it why, I dont know what it is, but it’s just something ive wanted to do for such a long time. it’s not a thing with subway’s in general, it was specifically with the l.a. subway system.
Anyway, so, I walked the 3 or 4 blocks from home to the subway station which is at the kodak theatre on hollywood blvd, proudly went down and bought my ticket for $1.50, and hopped on, as the subway whisked me off to the stop at universal studios. then walked over across the street to the free shuttle which takes you up to universal citywalk.
while walking toward the theatre, I came across a street performer, playing her guitar and singing. (those who know me already see where this is going…)of course, I had to stop and listen. this girl was amazing, beautiful voice. I just kinda stopped there and fell into a trance, watching, listening, as she performed some requests and covers, and played some of her own material as well. Just amazing. so amazing in fact, that my mind lost track of the time and by the time I got to thinking about why I was there in the first place and went to go get my ticket for the show, they happened to sell out for the showing I wanted just as my turn in line came up and I was walking up to the window.
no biggie, I can see the movie tomorrow or something. I decided to take in city walk a bit more, and the various sights and sounds, performers, shops, etc. it was a blast. Then I happily made my way back to the shuttle, then the subway, then walked back home, happy as can be.
