A Happy New Year (2005 in review)

by @ 3:30 am. Filed under Uncategorized

Wow. been a while since I’ve updated. and I can’t even say I’ve been doing anything remotely interesting. haha. Got some cool stuff for x-mas, new tires for my car, Vol. 3 of family guy on dvd, sin city collector’s edition dvd, and wedding crashers on dvd. New years wasnt that exciting, ended up playing designated driver, which I didnt mind. Figured it was my way of ‘paying it forward’ for the past couple of years when my friends have taken care of me when I’ve had a bit too much fun :)

Anyway, Figured I’d write up a review of 2005 for myself to read later on, with it’s hits and misses and best of’s in my life.

I turned 21. pretty excellent. and while I can’t say that 2005 has been a great year or even that being 21 has been all that great, my 21st birthday sure was. a week and a half in vegas, having fun with my friends, I couldnt have asked for much more. Outside of that, 2005 has been quite the rollercoaster. Quite a few ups and downs, from job loss, to getting back on my feet, having to accept living with parents again, to heading to new places I’d never been, like san diego. San Diego was a freaking blast, I love that town. I’ll definately be heading back again. Ive met a lot of new friends, drifted apart from old friendships that were a bit destructive or anti-productive, and more. Relationships that came and went, learning to cope with my bad times, and be a better person, a happier person, and turning into the man I’ve become, while still being very much the little boy I am on the inside. In some ways I’ve done a 180 compared to previous timesand years in my life. I dont do the computer thing as much anymore. I decided Im good at it, and can go back to it and fall back on it any time I please, and be just fine in doing so. I learn quick with technology, and my brain adapts fast. I’ve let music take over my life even more so than it ever has in the past. I’m bound and determined to record more songs of me singing/playing guitar than I have before, and get them out into the public to face the world, good criticism or bad.

I developed some new favorites this year, from movies to music, all were helpful to me in some way and brought me a lot of joy. If I had to pick one cd from this year to be my favorite album, it’d be a tough decision, but in the end, the result is always the same: Eisley’s ‘Room Noises’ album. God, I love that cd. It’s got a ton of the one thing that I love about all great music. Some soul. I listen to that cd and I just feel every lyric of every song in every inch of my being. I highly recommend it. There’s so many moods that I can be in, and that cd will work with them all. When it comes to movie’s, my all time favorite of 2005 has got to be wedding crashers. I think I’ve watched that at least 15-20 times, if not more, in 2005. It just rocks. It’s got that excellent high brow smart/witty sense of humor to it that I can appreciate, not the dull dumbed down comedy in a lot of films these days. The comedic chemistry between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn works so well. Probably the best out of the ‘frat pack’ (ferrell, wilson brothers, vaughn, stiller, etc.) movies thats come out in the past few years. Decent little love story as well for the softie in me. and that Rachel McAdams, cute as a button. haha.

And now on to 2006. I dont know what will happen in 2006. I can’t even believe it’s ‘2006′ to be honest. where does the time go? I was still getting used to writing down ‘2005′. I’m getting older. and hopefully wiser. I look forward to 2006, and all that it has the possibility to hold for me. I dont really have any particular expectations of 2006 like I did going into 2005. But whatever I do, wherever I go, I know 2005 has better equiped me as a person to face what lies ahead, good or bad, and to make the most of it.
