“And it’s nice not to be so alone, and I hold on to your secrets, in white houses”

Well, vegas was a whole lot of fun to say the least.
I did so much, met so many people, and had so much
fun, it was the best job and vacation ever. First,
I hopped on my flight on Fri. the 23rd. The plane
ride was alright, we landed and picked up our baggage,
and then grabbed a shuttle to the hotel and checked
in. The room was very nice, and very comfy. Then Neil
came up to get me and take me down to where we would
be working, and to meet the rest of the staff I’d be
working with, they were all very nice and very fun.
Most of the days I was busy working and setting things
up, but the nights were where all the fun was at. More
on that in a bit. We also got to see a lot of the
‘behind the scenes’ areas and things going on at the
caesars, the back entrances for celebs and the like,
etc. The days were definitly fun, and I got to
meet some of my favorite tech authors and hang out
with them face to face, Russ rogers, Dan Kaminsky,
Jay Beale, Chris Hurley, Tim Mullen, and many more.
I got to know some of these guys very well over my
stay in vegas, even going out for dinners or partying
with them, it was great. The nights were awesome as well,
one night we went out to see Bourne Supremacy, like
20 of us or so, it was fun, another night a bunch of us
all went to a really cool, kinda expensive all-you-can-eat
sushi place, which in the end was paid for by a company
that came along with us to eat, the bill was like $500-600
and they paid for the whole thing, it was awesome.
Another night we got private invites to the penthouse
suite of caesars palace, where an awesome party was held,
it had such a awesome view out on to las vegas, it was
so cool. and Elton John lived in the suite across the
hall, and he ended up getting the party shut down, because
he wanted to be able to sleep, so he could get up and
walk his dog by the pool in the morning. later that night
we explored the penthouse more, and then later went down
to Club Shadow, a very nice, kind of pricey club, which
has naked dancers dancing behind lighted screens to the
latest hits, so all you see is their silhouettes, it was
pretty cool. And there was lots of couches and cool booths
and stuff in the club, it was awesome. Most other nights
we went out to nice dinners and someone always had invites
for us for whatever party was the “it” party wherever we
were at. It definitly was a side of vegas a lot of people
arent ever lucky enough to experience. The Blackhat and
defcon conferences were a huge success, and I hope im
lucky enough to do them next year. btw, while im at it,
I wanna give a shout out to some great girls I got to meet
and or chill out with or make friends with while there,
There was brittany, a cute girl who Id known before vegas,
but got to meet in person while there, she’s awesome. and
speaking of awesome, there’s DJ Jackalope, when it comes
to DJ’ing and club music, this girl has got some skills,
and great looks to boot. You can check out some of her
stuff at www.orbiszine.com.
Also, Pebbles, damn girl, you’re hot! You were fun to
have drinks with at Blackhat. And also Nicole, omg,
what can I say, you’re awesome, thanx for hosting LL
and the conversation on sunday. Anyway, moving on, I did
manage to get some good sun during my vacation, in the 110+
degree weather no less, got burned one day, which kinda
sucked, but it wasnt a real bad burn, and mainly just
itched more than it hurt. I had lots of fun and was really
excited and spazzy when I wasnt working, and I think I was
entitled to it. It was the first time all year that
EVERYTHING that I ever thought about back home was left
at home and I never thought about it once. I think Sunday
night/monday morning was the only night I didnt get too
crazy and was more settled down, but I also was laying
in bed all night and morning with a cute girl/friend in
my arms, and I felt very content with the world around me
and didnt want to leave. btw, that was girl/friend, not
an actual girlfriend, and although we were laying there
in bed, all we did was cuddle and talk, which was very
nice, and that’s ALL that happened, I know a few of you
were bugging me or teasing me about it, but trust me, I
assure you, that’s all that happened. Anyway, everything
was awesome, I left with a little, and in a way came back
with a lot, and a lot of great memories as well. There was
also a certain pool incident that left me with some holes
in my knee, almost had to go to the hospital, but I wouldnt
let them take me, it was really bad, I lost most all use of
my leg for the next couple of days, so I didnt do much today,
mostly been watching movies and doing some writing, watched
“jay and silent bob strike back”, “boys and girls”, “the
beatles: a hard days night”, “south park: bigger, longer,
and uncut”, and right now im watching “moulin rouge”.
There’s so much more to my vegas trip than what I put here, but I
cant even remember it all right now, and Im sure pictures
speak better than words, so when all my pictures are sorted
and ready, I’ll let all of you know and put them up in the
gallery for all to see, for now, all I have is my moblog
pics, which, while low quality, are kinda fun to look at.
And for anyone that was wondering about the title to this
blog post, it’s lyrics from a new single from vanessa
carlton, one of my favorite female musicians, the single
should hit the radio for the public to listen to sometime
next week or this week maybe in some areas, and the cd it’s
from should hit shelves in september. The song is called
“white houses” and is awesome. I look forward to the entire
cd as soon as I can get my hands on it, until then, as far
as female musicians go, I’ll keep jamming out to my new
ashlee simpson cd like I have for the past 2 weeks, I love
almost all the songs on it, she totally rocks. Anyway,
enough jabbering from me, I’ll post the pics as soon as I can,
and will make a post here to let everyone know. And as always,
be sure to email me with any questions, comments, or even
just to say hi, etc.
